Contestants Sought for Redlands 15th Annual Children's Christmas Block Party

A call for contestants in music and dance competitions is going out for the 15th Annual Children's Christmas Block Party in Redlands.

Ages 4 to 18 are invited to compete.

The event is scheduled 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 15 at Redlands Community Center, 111 W. Lugonia Ave., according to organizers with the City of Redlands, the Redlands Police Department and Music Changing Lives.

"In addition to giving gifts, donated by various community groups, the celebration will also give youth and children the opportunity to showcase their talents," Redlands spokesman Carl Baker said in an announcement.

Contests will be conducted throughout the block party, Baker said.

"No auditions are necessary," Baker said. "Each winner will receive a prize at the conclusion of the contest."

Contest categories are:

  • Shuffle with Santa
  • Best DJ
  • Open Mic
  • Name that Tune: Family Teams
  • North Pole Idol
  • I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas Art

This year's Christmas Block Party theme will include recognizing the 125th anniversary of the incorporation of Redlands in 1888, "Celebrating 125 Years, A City that Gives," a city spokesman said.

The city's 125th anniversary year is 2013.

Contest participation forms are available at the Redlands Community Center.
