Council Scheduled to Meet Tuesday

Council will address the 2009/10 fiscal year and its future.

Loma Linda’s City Council may finally get a summary on how well the 2009-10 fiscal year went.

The audit firm of Caporicci & Larson is scheduled to give the annual Comprehensive Annual Financial Report to council members, who are also members of the city’s redevelopment agency.

The report includes activities carried out by the city, its council and its redevelopment agency board.

The firm is scheduled to give a PowerPoint presentation detailing how money was spent on a numbers of projects, including low-income housing and the funding and growth of the fire department. The report will also run down the city’s plans for the future, which according to the report, include expanding the medical support services, research facilities, professional offices and lodging accommodations for visitors to the medical centers and community.

Loma Linda is also looking at its residential growth. The city wants to ensure it can provide housing for the type of workforce it wants to bring in.

According to the report, “The vision for the future of Loma Linda is for the City to have a balanced economy that meets the needs of the community, is a great place to live and do business. The goal is to attract high-tech industries to the City and create a diverse mix of high paying job opportunities to maintain the City’s high quality standard of living and complement the LLUMC.”

The city will also revisit the extension of the precise plan for the Loma Linda University Seventh-day Adventist Church’s chapel project and the increase of wastewater treatment fees on second reading.

The council will convene publicly at 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the City Council Chamber, 25541 Barton Road.
