ELECTIONS UPDATE: Republican Morrell Beats Warner in 40th Assembly

Incumbent Mike Morrell and challenger Russ Warner faced off in the new 40th District that includes Redlands, Loma Linda, Highland, San Bernardino, Lytle Creek and Rancho Cucamonga.

Update 10:59 a.m. With 100 percent of precincts reporting Wednesday, results showed incumbent State Assemblyman Mike Morrell defeated challenger Russ Warner in the redrawn 40th District.

Morrell, R-Rancho Cucamonga, finished with 51,954 votes or 51.41 percent, and Warner, D-Rancho Cucamonga, finished with 41,904 votes or 48.59 percent, according to the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters.

The new 40th District includes Redlands, Loma Linda, Highland, San Bernardino, Lytle Creek and Rancho Cucamonga.

Posted 11:59 p.m. According to unofficial results as of midnight Tuesday, incumbent State Assemblyman Mike Morrell was leading challenger Russ Warner by more than 3,000 votes in the redrawn 40th District.

Morrell, R-Rancho Cucamonga, and Warner, D-Rancho Cucamonga, faced off in the new 40th District that includes Redlands, Loma Linda, Highland, San Bernardino, Lytle Creek and Rancho Cucamonga.

As of midnight with 47 percent of precincts reporting, Morrell led with 39,985 votes, 52.16 percent, and Warner had 36,677 votes, 47.84 percent, according to the San Bernardino County registrar and the Secretary of State.
