Group to Screen Documentary on Sexual Exploitation of Girls

The Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation will screen "Very Young Girls," and host a panel discussion, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the Fontana Steelworkers' Auditorium.

The Coalition Against Sexual Exploitation, or C.A.S.E. will screen the film “Very Young Girls,” and host a panel discussion, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Fontana Steelworkers’ Auditorium.

The film is an exposé on how girls become part of commercial sexual exploitation rings. Young women in New York City are featured as they are sold on the streets by pimps and treated as adult criminals by police, according to San Bernardino County District Attorney officials, who are helping promote the film.

“Many people think that young women who are involved in prostitution either choose to do it or the problem is in some foreign country.,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Karen Bell, who is the C.A.S.E. liaison for the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office. “This film will dispel both beliefs with an eye-opening look at the prostitution of young girls in this country.”

“My hope is that this event will not only educate the public about the problem of human trafficking, but also inspire them to become involved,” said San Bernardino County District Attorney Michael A. Ramos. “These young girls have been victimized for years, some since the day they were born. It’s time to treat them as such and help them get their lives back. These are our children, our most vulnerable. Let’s all make a difference in one life to save hundreds.”
