The bipartisan Coalition To Reform County Government will file signatures Wednesday for a ballot amendment looking to pass the "Part-Time Pay for Part-Time Work" initiative.

The bipartisan group, Coalition To Reform County Government, will submit the required signatures Wednesday to qualify the initiative calling for the County Board of Supervisors to work part-time, thereby saving the county several thousand dollars a year.

Comprised of members from San Bernardino County labor unions, Tea Party members and others, the group is seeking to place the “Part-Time Pay for Part-Time Work” initiative on the November ballot. The signatures will be submitted to the County Registrar of Voters Wednesday.

The San Bernardino County Elected Officials Pay Reduction Act is a charter amendment initiative seeking to reform county government, according to a news release from the San Bernardino County Safety Employees’ Benefit Association Political Issues Committee.

It would establish a part-time board of supervisors, reflecting the fact they met half the time in the past two years, reduces their pay and perks accordingly from an average of $271,000 to $60,000 per year, and reduces office budgets from $6 million to $1.5 million per year.

They have collected the required 43,500 signatures of registered San Bernardino county voters needed to qualify the measure for the November 2012 ballot.
