Loma Linda Council Set to Discuss Budget Outlook

The city might need to make deeper cuts to balance next fiscal year's budget.

The budget will be the topic of discussion at tonight’s regular Loma Linda City Council meeting.

Officials will hold a workshop to discuss the outlook of 2011-12 fiscal year budget.

City Manager T. Jarb Thaipejr has said he has been working on balancing the budget without making too many deep cuts. But city staff may have to make concessions as they face unpaid furloughs.

A preliminary budget recently presented to a budget committee proposed cutting police presence at night by one officer, leaving four during the day and one at night, Thaipejr said.

Several other cuts will also be discussed during the night.
