Occupy Redlands Condemns Violence

In the hopes of avoiding a repeat of the violence that took place on Nov. 6 in Riverside, the Redlands protesters have released their mission statement and an open letter to the Redlands Police chief.

In the wake for the Sunday's confrontation between Riverside Police and Occupy Riverside protestors, Occupy Redlands has released a mission statement and an letter to Redlands Police Chief Mark Garcia.

The group said it wants to spell out their goal and make it clear with the Redland Police Department that they do not want or condone violence.

"The Occupy Redlands movement unequivocally condemns all violence and vandalism and restates its absolute commitment to peaceful, non-violent action," according to a statement released by Occupy Redlands spokesman Keith Jackson.

The statement continues: "We promise that any member of Occupy Redlands who practices civil disobedience will do so only after receiving non-violence protest training."

"Any person who violates our standards of non-violence will be disavowed and not be allowed to continue to participate in any of our actions or General Assemblies."
