Redlands PD Co-hosting Back-to-School Event
Children will have the chance to receive a free backpack and enter a drawing for a new bicycle.
The Redlands Police Department -- with the help of local businesses, churches and nonprofit organizations -- will be getting children ready for school at an event Tuesday.
Held in conjunction with National Night Out activities, the department is hosting a community cleanup day and the Back2School Jam at the Redlands Community Center, 111 W. Lugonia, according to a news release.
The morning will start off with the community cleanup activities from 8 a.m. to noon at various locations in the city: Post Street and Brockton Avenue, Cook Street and Cero Court, the Housing Authority, and Second Baptist Church, 420 E. Stuart St.

Each child or teen participating in the cleanup will receive a free backpack.
The back-to-school event will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at the community center. The event will include a community resource fair, a bicycle rodeo event and the raffle of 50 bicycles.

The day will end with a family movie presentation at the community center.
