Obama`s America 2016 Number 1 movie http://2016themovie.com/
Mark Paxson January 20, 2013 at 01:06 AM
Hmmm ... at the peak, California had 2.2 million people on unemployment. In 2012, California had about 4 million people receiving food stamps -- the most common form of welfare. And almost 13,000,000 people employed. The problem with doing this is that your definition of welfare is probably different than mine, but would love to know what the basis for your statement is.

You don't have to like President Obama but as Americans There should be a level of Repect For the office GET OVER IT
Jason January 20, 2013 at 03:31 AM
Respect must be earned. What has Obama done to earn mine?
Mark Paxson January 20, 2013 at 03:35 AM
Rescued the auto industry, ended the war in Iraq, made the decision to get OBL (the one that GWB was unwilling to make), ended government-sanctioned and illegal torture ... those are just a few things. What did you want him to do to earn your respect?

Happy Coming up Martin Luther King day Mark Paxson and to all people

To Mr. Wilkerson, Born poor, but did not know it, no silver spoon, baby boomer, husband and I both paid for our own educations,no student loans, take care of both grandchildren full time when Mom who is single and poor is working. Help her as much as possible, live modestly, saved 44 years to retire, feel investment in grandchildren is more important than going on cruises and trips around Europe and I love the USA nd want to see it stay free. Enough-lesson to learn-don't be so quick to judge!
Andrew Peceimer January 20, 2013 at 05:54 AM
Mark, Are you nuts? Yea Obama rescured the auto industry...He appointed Steve Rattner as the Car Zar.See his stellar reputation below: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/14/business/14rattner.html GM stock owned by The Tax Payers is now being sold at a 12 Billion Dollar loss and the bond holders like my brother received nothing. Obama ended the war? How did he do it? I thought the war was over in about a week when Bush had the US enter Iraq? How is Afghanistan going for us Mark? Enhanced interrogation? Yea it never happend with Obama in office...LOL.. BTW I suggest you watch Zero Dark Thirty....I would do the same if anyone had my kids. I guess you would not agree to enhanced interogation even if your kids were endanger. Did you buy The Koran to read it after 911 due to feeling guilty for being an American? We now have over 40 million in food stamps and almost 17 trillion in debt with Obama...Wake up and stop drinking the kool aid Mark. There will be a day in the near future that the Obama Credit card will no longer fund the free stuff.

I wonder why the editor let Vito Spago get away with his blatant racist rants. They seem to have me in some kind of "Cointelpro" watch program when I comment!!!
MARK January 20, 2013 at 01:35 PM
Thank you for setting that Dreamer "Mark" in Place. Come on Man!!! Plus color the White house Black, who would do it? The People who voted for Obama are to lazy to work. a.k.a The "Come on Man".
Riley Willerson January 20, 2013 at 03:41 PM
Katherine thanks for the response, seems you have the American dream, but I am not the only one who appears to be judging, you are assuming our freedom is being taken by our president and he is forcing change like gun control, healthcare, affordable education, etc. It is commendable that you paid your own school loans. Great your daughter has her parents to watch her children, she is fortunate, a lot of single mothers do not have the luxury . We need health care, and education that is affordable. we must invest in our education systems and provide healthcare. You may be fortunate and have healthcare, but many do not, i know people who pay an average cost 800-1200 per month for family healthcare. for instance a single mom with kids, low income, no parents to watch her kids, all money goes to daycare, nothing left for healthcare, so does he or she work or collect welfare. and people are mad at our president for wanting a change.
Mark Paxson January 20, 2013 at 03:49 PM
Andrew ... this is why these discussions aren't possible. I post a few examples of Obama's that I believe are accomplishments worth respecting. I do nothing more than that and what do I get in response ... I must have read the Koran out of guilt. I must be one of those people who voted for Obama for "the free stuff." Is it remotely possible for any of you conservatives to actually debate with facts and not sink into your radically idiotic stereotypes and tag lines. "Free stuff" ... you guys crack me up. Oh, yeah, about Zero Dark Thirty ... it's a fictionalized version of the truth. As in, not everything in the movie is true, otherwise it would be a documentary. And, just for the record ... I don't support torture under any circumstances, just like I don't support the death penalty in any circumstances. And MARK's comment right after yours ... classic, truly classic ... who would "color the White House Black"? People who don't care about the color of somebody's skin.
Vito Spago January 20, 2013 at 04:15 PM
It was a miracle that Obamacare passed. If you remember the pork he had to hand out to get his buddies to vote for it. The procedural laws he had to stretch to get it to barely passs. He passed a law that no one short of his buddies wanted. Gun control Get real. Nothing will happen. Obama is clueless on negotiation skills. Democrats are terrified of the NRA's millions. Nothing that Obama has to get through congress will get through in the next 4 years because of Obama's arrogant personality. No Immigration reform, No education reform, No gay marriage. You just voted in 4 more years of gridlock by electing 4 more years of that idiot.
Vito Spago January 20, 2013 at 04:19 PM
More news: Single Mom with Kids: Whose fault is that. Maybe mom better be more selective in who she shacks up with or marries. Quit marrying losers, mom. Or at least do not have kids with the moron. I am not too sympathtic with single moms when most of the trouble is bad life choices. Not my fault if you are a low life.
Mark Paxson January 20, 2013 at 04:36 PM
Bobby Richardson ... I prefer those rants not be deleted. It's always preferable to know the beast you're dealing with.
Andrew Peceimer January 20, 2013 at 05:10 PM
Mark it would have been nice if you responded to my points about 40 million plus on food stamps and Obama 17 trillion dollar debt. Any President or individual can live a great life when they are ringing up credit card bills for the future. What part of Obama's reckless spending do you support!? Do you spend more than you earn?
Riley Willerson January 20, 2013 at 05:44 PM
Seems Vito and Andrew forgot that Obama won the popular vote as well, Vito it had nothing to do with Mexicans voting. Many White Americans voted for President Obama. Vito are you afraid of being a minority? We are "All" immigrants Nordic tribesmen and the Native American are the only true original people's of America, not Columbus, sorry to disappoint you. I will vote for a republican when we have a viable candidate, until then it is what it is. Republicans need to pull together, they are their worst enemy. Both parties are at a good old "Mexican standoff" stubborn to the gills.
Andrew Peceimer January 20, 2013 at 05:56 PM
Riley, My kids are half Latino. Nice to see you know so much about me. I also had to fill out papers and wait 2 years for a Visa to get married. Do you want to penalize those who follow the law by filling out papers, paying the fess, and waiting?
Mark Paxson January 20, 2013 at 07:03 PM
Fine ... here's one of the accomplishments I wish Obama had achieved ... returning tax rates to where they were under Clinton. If he had done that, the national debt would not have grown at the pace it did. And let's not forget that the largest annual deficit was the result of GWB's last budget and that Obama has lowered the annual deficit every year since. Has he done it fast enough? No. Hard to do that without cooperation from the other party. As for the people on food stamps -- yes, that's a problem as well. What would you have had him do differently? Not bail out the auto companies, leading to a couple million more people without jobs? Not bail out the financial industry, leading to a depression? I completely agree that the federal government should operate under a balanced budget. Clinton, without one single Republican vote, got there. Are you willing to do what it actually takes to do so? You're upset about the national debt and the people on food stamps. What's your solution? What would you have had Obama do differently?
Garry Rowe January 20, 2013 at 07:58 PM
Bobby, please be careful not to assume that the reason all those who do not like Obama due so because he's black. I believe that is a very small percentage of ingnorant people. For me, the fact that he is black is the only redeeming value.
Garry Rowe January 20, 2013 at 08:01 PM
Faith, respect for the office is one thing. Respect for the officeholder is another story. That has to be earned. It is not inherent to the post.
Laura Brown January 21, 2013 at 02:25 AM
Why no clue as to when the inaugural address will take place?
Melanie C. Johnson (Editor) January 21, 2013 at 02:44 AM
Hi Laura. After the oath is given Monday, President Obama will give his address. It should be around noon eastern time. Hope that helps!
Dr. James Swartz January 21, 2013 at 02:58 AM
respect WAS earned by the blood of our colonial minutemen and respect was further earned by a majority vote of this nation's citizens. either show some class and act like a citizen who disagrees with civility or move elsewhere. cheap shots and name calling only demean you, never the office of the presidency.
Riley Willerson January 21, 2013 at 05:26 AM
Andrew, No to your question, have to have laws, not sure how you got the idea that I was against having laws that govern citizenship. your view is a very narrow view of the world, are unable to open your eyes to what I was speaking too, "healthcare , education, etc. I did not speak about opening the borders for a free for all, nor am I against immigration reform. Glad you are sensitive to those who are working hard to becom a citizen. And again you seem to be unable to get passed the fact that Obama won the popular vote . And by the way, Zero dark thirty is a movie, based on jo public knowledge playing field, Obama did go after the bad guy and and got him . Listen, please hear me Andrew "Obama won the election votes by all Nationalities does that even register?
Melanie C. Johnson (Editor) January 22, 2013 at 10:16 PM
Vito Spago - I have removed one of your comments because it violates the Patch terms of use. The terms of use can be read at this link - http://diamondbar-walnut.patch.com/terms. Anyone who is warned of violating the terms of use and still continues to do so, can have his or her account suspended.
Vito Spago January 22, 2013 at 11:55 PM
Sorry. I do not remember what it was about. Was it about Beyonce being a phony along with Obama. What is wrong with that?
Andrew Peceimer January 23, 2013 at 06:02 PM
Another speech intended to divide our country. I can't remember any President being so one sided. Spend more and more (17 trillion coming soon), blame the rich people for lack of jobs, 40 million on food stamps, gas prices are twice as high since he took office but the press will not mention it. If Bush was Presiden they would say Big Oil and Dick Cheney run the White House.
