Senator Bob Dutton to Seek Jerry Lewis' Seat

The state senator, who terms out of office at the end of the year, announced he intends to run for the seat being vacated by a retiring Jerry Lewis.

California Senator Bob Dutton, who currently represents the state's 31st Senatorial District, announced today he will run for the 31st District Congressional seat.

This pits him against fellow Republican, Congressman Gary Miller, who is running for re-election in that district.

Saying that "too many Washington, D.C. politicians allow special interests to corrupt their decision making at the expense of solving local problems," independent businessman Bob Dutton announced today he's seeking the new 31st Congressional District.

A Reagan Republican whose public service includes two terms on the Rancho Cucamonga City Council and ten years as a citizen legislator in state government, Dutton has witnessed firsthand the despair of local families “who have lost their homes to foreclosure and remain unemployed because our of weak economy.”

“I’ve lived in San Bernardino County for 37 years. People here just want their representatives to stop the partisan bickering,” continued Dutton. “Common sense says you shouldn’t ask if something is a Democrat idea or a Republican idea, but instead ask, if it’s the right thing to do?”
