Share Your Photos From the 2013 Presidential Inauguration

Are you attending inaugural ceremonies? Upload your photos or videos, and share the experience.

Millions of people will head toward the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 21 to witness President Barack Obama take the oath of office for his second term.

On Jan. 20, 2009, Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States. The theme for his first inauguration was “A New Birth of Freedom.” The ceremony honored the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. This year, the theme is “Faith in America's Future,” honoring the installation of the Statue of Freedom on the Capitol Dome 150 years ago in 1863.

This year's inauguration will also commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as Jan. 21 is also Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The president will honor King by taking the oath of office for his second term with his hand placed on two bibles—one owned by the civil rights activist and one owned by Abraham Lincoln.

The ceremony is followed by the inaugural parade and then the inaugural ball.

I do not think there is a single person in the southern calif area other than political wonks that are going to watch king moron be crowned. The sooner MLK day passes, the better for the people of the US.
David V. January 18, 2013 at 06:55 pm
I don't understand the hatred heaped on the President. Disagree with him on some or many issues, sure. But vilify him and call him "king moron" -- that's not only unseemly, but shows as well an unwillingness to accept the results of two elections.
Vito Spago January 18, 2013 at 07:22 pm
David V. You do not see how he refuses to negotiate with the Republicans on anything. He refuses to admit that he blamed the Benghazi attacks on a movie rather than a terror attack that he was asleep on. He uses his media buddies to poke fun a legitimate Republican presidential candidates. He uses children to get at the NRA? He panders to gays and illegals just before an election for obvious reasons, to get votes. He refuses to balance the budget because the money he borrows against our children's incomes goes to buy votes for democrats. And all this the press just looks the other way. If George Bush or Mitt Romney did this, they would be screaming impeachment. I will be happy that the inauguration be over and done with. May Obama drop dead of a heart attack.

@Vito Spago: watch Fox News much?
Vito Spago January 18, 2013 at 08:26 pm
No. I read the LA Times and find out from them what morons the Liberals are. Fox news and Limbaugh and those others bore me. They are far right. I am merely conservative and dislike the hypocracy that I see on the part of the liberals that I see everyday. Like the concern for pound animals when they support abortion that kills human babies by the thousands each years. They condemn Catholics for cases of abuse when the Catholic church gives millions of dollars helping the poor all over the world. Same with the boy scouts. Logical thinking folks do not need to watch conservative stations. I actually do not watch TV or any media for that matter, to slow moving and boring..
David H. Perez January 18, 2013 at 10:07 pm
@Vito Spago - So, Vito, you think that because the Catholic Church helps the poor all over the world, it's OK that so many of their priests are boinking children?
David V. January 18, 2013 at 11:13 pm
Can you dig the hole a little deeper, Vito? You call yourself "logical" and condemn the President and liberals generally as "morons." Meanwhile, you pass off as logical these gems: (1) that allowing women to have control over reproductive choices is inconsistent with caring for animals, and (2) that it's hypocritical to condemn the cover-up of the sexual abuse of children when the Church also helps the poor.
Why, oh why, can't we have a rational discussion, filled with some charity for those you disagree with, even here?
Roberto January 19, 2013 at 01:41 am
Sorry, even though, as a tax payer, it's my money paying for this extravaganda,
I wouldn't waste one minute of my time watching this idiot.
Vito Spago January 19, 2013 at 02:40 am
David V: Killing babies is control over reproductive choices? What a joke. How about using birth control???
David P. Of course it is not OK to boink Kids, but liberals are ready to throw the Pope in jail for some priests covering up for some pedophiles. Get real. Catholic church does more to help kids than any liberal charities. In fact, name 1 liberal charitie that helps kids. I can name several that kill kids.

Vito, Enough of your hostility and ingratitude, these are hard times, we all understand that but enough of your innuendos and accusations. Go get some help. Seriously, deal with your anger...
Mark Paxson January 19, 2013 at 01:09 pm
Actually, most of the inauguration is funded by donors. Government does fund things like security, but given the massive crowds there for the event, I'm willing to bet that the costs to government are more than compensated by the increase in tax revenue from hotels, restaurants, and the like.

The thugs were offered housing expenses to move from LA to Beaumont, Banning, San Jacinto, Hemet this is why we are seeing a rise in crimes. Please call Obama and thank him for ruining our communities (US Supreme Court`s BOSS). The mayor of LA keeps saying crime is down in LA that`s because they all moved here let`s tell the real truth Mayor. One more thing we the tax payers paid them to move here. That`s right they got housing allowance from our wonderful Federal Government. Lock your doors, load your guns, and get guard dogs families these communities will never be the safe again! If you want to know what "sustainablity" is really about, come hear Rosa Koire at RedlandsRead More Townhall on May 23, 6:30 pm at the American Legion Hall, 814 W. Colton Avenue. "Sustainability" is UN Agenda 21.
Gregory Brittain May 21, 2013 at 10:03 am
“Sustainability” = UN Agenda 21 = less liberty and less prosperity. One of the bestRead More sources is self-described “liberal democrat,” “feminist,” “lesbian” Rosa Koire and her book “Behind the Green Mask: U.N. Agenda 21.” For more information, please see: http://www.postsustainabilityinstitute.org/ http://www.democratsagainstunagenda21.com/ http://www.democratsagainstunagenda21.com/uploads/4/4/6/6/4466371/why_is_everyone_talking_about_un_agenda_21.pdf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDtCb45Lqt0 If the U.N. is involved, it can’t be good for America and it can’t be good for liberty. Liberty is not a value of the Left.

Usually I'd start with how teachers should be paid in line with their students grades, but for nowRead More I'll just suggest going to the .99 cent stores. You can get everything from 100 packs of #2 pencils to college ruled notebooks and binders, to pens and highlighters. We go there weekly and send boxes of school supplies, crayons and coloring books to our troops in Afghanistan to help them befriend the locals. The biggest score is cans of party string that usually go for $5. They spray it into a room and the streamers will hang on any tripwires without setting off the bomb. And try asking the store manager if corporate might be willing to throw in 2 for the price of one or a bakers dozen on highly stocked items if you can get several other teaches to also shop there. It never hurts to ask.

I have shopped at Staples for years and have yet gotten a so-called reward. Why the change of heartRead More now? The school supplies are overpriced anyway. I get things really inexpensively at Walmart right before school starts. There is no limit as to how many things one can buy like there is at Staples.
