Redlands Tea Party Patriots will host play host to Angle in Mentone on Thursday. She will talk about her effort with Election Integrity Project.

Redlands Tea Party Patriots are bringing another conservative symbol to the area, welcoming Sharron Angle to Mentone on Thursday.

Angle will be raising money and spreading the message about the Election Integrity Project. She also will be signing her new book “Right Angle, One Woman's Journey to Reclaim the Constitution.”

Project organizers say EIP works to get citizens involved in "every aspect of government, including the election process."

Angle become well-known after running for U.S. Senate against Sen. Harry Reid, a Democrat and U.S. Senate Majority leader from Nevada, a race she lost. She has since become a strong symbol for the Tea Party movement and has been touring the country speaking to different groups.

“One of the things we’re interested in doing is developing an election integrity project out here,” said Phil Naman, spokesman with Redlands Tea Party Patriots.

With so many of its current and former political figures going through legal troubles, the area is need for a watch group, he said.

They have already heard rumblings of possible issues with voter registration, Naman said. He was unsure exactly what was happening, but an integrity group could be on the lookout for any abuses, he said.

This is the second nationally known political right-winger the Tea Party will play host to, Naman said. They hosted an event with Andrew Breitbart on Sept. 15. They attract some of these names because they are so active.

The club has grown and is one of the largest in the area, with more than 1,000 members, Naman said.

“We want to make sure that elections are held in a free and fair manner, and that there’s not a lot of fraud,” Naman said.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. at Mill Creek Cattle Company, 1874 Mentone Blvd. in Mentone.
