Tea Party Patriots member Phil Naman said the group decided to screen the film for the entire organization after a small group of tea party members watched it as his home, he said.

The film, “answered a lot of questions,” Naman said.

Tea Party members are frustrated by what they see coming from Washington DC and organizations, such as Code Pink, a women’s anti-war group, and environmentalist Van Jones, Naman said.

“This storyline kind of puts things together,” he said. “It kind of adds them up and says 'well here’s what’s really happening. Here’s an explanation for some of the things we’re seeing.' ”

What they are seeing is a government late in passing a budget, he said.

“It’s a shame that the administration was given another $2.4 trillion dollars when they haven’t passed a budget in over 820 days,” Naman said. “So nobody has any idea where this money is going in addition to the $5 trillion they’ve spent and added to our national debt in the last 29 months.”

And when they voice opposition, they are vilified, he said.

“We’re called extreme because we believe in fiscal responsibility,” he said. “As a matter of fact, we’ve been called terrorists. We’re being compared to the people who killed 3,000 innocent United State citizens while they were at work because we’re asking Barack Obama and Joe Biden and Harry Reid to give us a budget and live within their means.”

MoveOn.org council member Zoe Lane had not seen the documentary, but had viewed the film's trailer. She said she would refrain from passing judgment, but felt the trailer completely misrepresented liberals.

“To be honest, I'd feel kind of embarrassed for anyone that actually believed that propaganda,” Lane said via email. “Especially if they then turn around and call us - as they do in the trailer - the ‘useful idiots.’ ”
