A Gardener's Haven

From plants, tools and more, Hunter's Nursery has a lovely assortment to meet your gardening needs.

For all of you gardening enthusiasts I highly recommend visiting Hunter's Garden Center in Big Bear, California. Even if you don't have a green thumb your eyes will happily take in the beauty of the vast assortment of flowers, trees and plants. During our first visit at Hunters we were filled with questions and our young helper had no problem keeping up with answering each one. For her young years she had plenty of plant knowledge.

We learned about what plants can survive the cold winters in Forest Falls. Having lived in Yucaipa for nine years we were very familiar with what grows in the lower elevations. My husband is the one with the very green thumb and he has happily planted Rhododendrons, Clematis and Gardenias. That day we went on a shopping spree and have gone back at least two times since. Being a photographer I carry my camera with me and so I had a great time taking in the color through my lens.

The plants are healthy and it is obvious that they get excellent care. This Nursery carries much of the equipment that a gardener needs, so don't hesitate to pay Hunter's Nursery and Garden Center on your next day off.

Usually I'd start with how teachers should be paid in line with their students grades, but for nowRead More I'll just suggest going to the .99 cent stores. You can get everything from 100 packs of #2 pencils to college ruled notebooks and binders, to pens and highlighters. We go there weekly and send boxes of school supplies, crayons and coloring books to our troops in Afghanistan to help them befriend the locals. The biggest score is cans of party string that usually go for $5. They spray it into a room and the streamers will hang on any tripwires without setting off the bomb. And try asking the store manager if corporate might be willing to throw in 2 for the price of one or a bakers dozen on highly stocked items if you can get several other teaches to also shop there. It never hurts to ask.
