"The models, all breast cancer survivors who underwent breast reconstruction after getting mastectomy, will present fashions provided by Macy's," university spokesman Herbert Atienza said. "The event will honor all breast cancer survivors, celebrate their survival, and remember those who have been lost."

The fashion show is presented by the Loma Linda University Health System's Department of Plastic Surgery.

"Our Department of Plastic Surgery is very proud to take a leading role in closing the loop on breast cancer by helping to ensure all women are educated on their reconstructive options post-mastectomy," Dr. Subhas Gupta, chairman of Loma Linda University Health System's Department of Plastic Surgery, said in the announcement.

"We understand the impact that reconstructive surgery can have on the lives of breast cancer survivors and we view this initiative as a critical one in educating women with breast cancer about their rightful options, considering that seven out of 10 women are not aware of these choices," Gupta said.

The Sept. 30 event will include fun, food and a silent auction, organizers said.

The Loma Linda University Health System includes Loma Linda University Medical Center and Children's Hospital, LLUMC East Campus, Behavioral Medicine Center, Heart and Surgical Hospital, LLUMC-Murrieta and physician clinics.
