Galaxy Lose in Seattle Without Donovan But Win Finals, 4-2, Will Host MLS Cup

Los Angeles lost Sunday night 1-2 but won the two-match, total-goals conference finals to advance to the league championship, Dec. 1 versus Houston in Carson.

The Los Angeles Galaxy lost Sunday night in Seattle without Redlands native Landon Donovan, but they won the two-match Major League Soccer western conference finals 4-2 on aggregate.

Seattle won the match 2-1 but failed to overcome the 3-0 advantage Los Angeles built in the first leg a week ago in Carson.

Eddie Johnson and Zach Scott scored for the Sounders to close the difference to 3-2 in front of an announced Seattle crowd of more than 44,000. But a handball call in the 66th minute resulted in Robbie Keane's penalty to put the Galaxy in front 4-2 on aggregate.

Donovan traveled to Seattle with a hamstring injury but he was not on the squad list and he did not play.

The result Sunday night set up a rematch of MLS Cup 2011, Los Angeles versus Houston at Home Depot Center in Carson. The match is scheduled Saturday Dec. 1.
