Loma Linda U Children's Hospital Patients Enjoy A La Minute Demo

A Wells Fargo 'Out of the Box' grant - to fund educational experiences for children who miss school due to being hospitalized - paid for the presentation, Herbert Atienza of Loma Linda University said.

Ice cream innovators from Redlands recently gave a demonstration on how to make the confection using liquid nitrogen and fresh ingredients for patients at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital.

Ryan and Cassandra Berk, husband and wife owners of A La Minute Creamery, visited the hospital on Tuesday Nov. 13, a university spokesman said.

A Wells Fargo "Out of the Box" grant - to fund educational experiences for children who miss school due to being hospitalized - paid for the presentation, Herbert Atienza of Loma Linda University said.

"The hospital school program is a joint venture between San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, Redlands Unified School District, and Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital," Atienza said.

A La Minute is at 19 E. Citrus Ave., #105, in Redlands.

Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital is billed as the only dedicated pediatric hospital in San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo and Mono counties.
