Loma Linda University School of Dentistry officials plan to host an open house for its Hugh Love Center for Research & Education in Technology on Aug. 22, a university spokesman announced Monday.
"The Hugh Love Center is comprised of six operatories and a three-chair open clinic," Herbert Atienza of Loma Linda University said.
"The 3,000-square-foot Center, with equipment provided by six different manufacturers, will enable qualified students, under faculty supervision, the opportunity to treat patients using the latest in dental technology," Atienza said.
In the coming fall quarter of 2012, fourth-year dental students will treat patients at Hugh Love Center for at least two weeks each, Atienza said.
The center is named for Loma Linda University School of Dentistry alumnus Hugh C. Love, DDS, class of 1961, Atienza said.
The open house is scheduled 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 22 at Prince Hall, Room 2270, 11092 Anderson St. in Loma Linda.
Loma Linda University School of Dentistry opened in 1953, Atienza said. The school offers doctor of dental surgery degrees, bachelor and associate of science degrees in dental hygiene, and advanced specialty education programs in dental anesthesiology, endodontics, implant dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, and prosthodontics.
