Volunteers are planning a cleanup this Saturday at Thurman Flats Picnic Area, 3.5 miles up Mill Creek Canyon from the Ranger Station at Bryant Street and Highway 38.
The San Gorgonio Wilderness Association is organizing the family-oriented event, which includes a "Childrens Cleanup" and the chance to meet Smokey Bear, organizers said.
The event is scheduled 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 4. Participants are asked to "please bring sturdy shoes, sunscreen, gloves and a smile."
