More Than $70K Raised for Hospital

The winner, Nick Goldware from Riverside, got to choose between a 2012 Audi A4, Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLK350, Mercedes-Benz C250, two Fiats, two Smart cars, or a Sprinter commercial van, hospital representatives said.

Walter's Automotive Group of Riverside helped raise more than $70,000 for Loma Linda University Children's Hospital by offering the grand prize in a $100-per-ticket drawing on Friday Aug. 24, representatives for the dealership and the hospital said Monday.

Kimie Metcalf, 7, a patient at LLUCH, pulled the winning ticket, a spokeswoman for Loma Linda University Children's Hospital said.

As of Monday afternoon, Goldware remained undecided, Briana Pastorino of Loma Linda University Children's Hospital said.

Goldware bought five tickets for the drawing, Pastorino said.

"Buying the tickets for this drawing was not about winning . . . but it was all about the cause," Goldware said. "I just hope the little money we all contributed will help kids like Kimie at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital."

Goldware also commended Walter's Automotive Group general manager Steve Kienle and his wife Cathy Kienle for their support of the hospital, Pastorino said.

It was the 2nd Annual Walter's Automotive Group Car Drawing, hospital representatives said. A total of 704 tickets were sold for $100 a piece for .

In addition to the car-winning ticket, Kimie pulled three other winning tickets, for a diamond bracelet, donated by K. Norris Jewelers, a men's Mercedes-Benz watch, donated by Walter's Mercedes-Benz, and $400 cash.

Loma Linda University Children's Hospital is billed as the only dedicated children's hospital in San Bernardino, Riverside, Inyo and Mono counties.
