REDLANDS BATTLE: Terriers Defeat Wildcats 41-37 for 2012 Smudge Pot

Redlands East Valley had won five Smudge Pots in a row, but Redlands held on to win and improve to 7-1 for the 2012 season.

Redlands High and Redlands East Valley High fought deep into the fourth quarter Friday night, and RHS held on to defeat REV 41-37 for Smudge Pot bragging rights in their passionate crosstown football rivalry.

The Wildcats had won five Smudge Pots in a row, but the Terriers made clutch first downs at the end of the showdown to improve to 7-1 for the 2012 season.

Thousands packed the stands on both sides of Dodge Field and more sat in extra stands behind the end zones.

The matchup was billed as a home game for the Wildcats, who fell to 3-4 so far this season.

Dodge Stadium is on Redlands High School's campus at 840 E. Citrus Ave.
