Redlands Native and Galaxy Teammates Prepare for MLS Conference Finals 2012

Landon Donovan assisted on two goals Wednesday night in San Jose, to ensure Los Angeles completed a 3-2 aggregate defeat of the Earthquakes in the two-game playoff.

A soccer player who grew up in Redlands was preparing Saturday with his Los Angeles Galaxy teammates for the MLS Western Conference finals, a two-match elimination that begins Sunday against Seattle in Carson.

Landon Donovan assisted on two goals Wednesday night in San Jose, to ensure Los Angeles completed a 3-2 aggregate defeat of the Earthquakes in the two-game playoff.

The first leg of the conference finals is scheduled at 6 p.m. Nov. 11 at Home Depot Center. The second leg is scheduled at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 in Seattle. Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN platforms, according to Major League Soccer.

The Galaxy are defending MLS Cup champions. Donovan scored the winner in the championship match last November, when the Galaxy won their third league title 1-0 in Carson.

Donovan, 30, grew up playing soccer for local clubs, Redlands High and Redlands East Valley. He played for Everton FC of Liverpool during the MLS off-season earlier this year.
