Redlands Unified School District Board of Education to meet Tuesday

The Board will hear a presentation on energy management.

The first Redlands Unified School District Board of Education meeting since Spring Break will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

The Board will hear a presentation from Sherryl Avitabile, assistant superintendent of business services, and James Fotia, energy manager of business services, on energy management in the district. Redlands High School student Samuel Haws will also give a report on the latest news coming out of his school.

Items on the business services consent items agenda include authorizing the destruction of surplus and/or obsolete vehicles owned by the district; ratifying and approving an agreement with the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools to provide external evaluation services for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Enhancing Education Through Technology Competitive Grant Program; and approving the participation of the district in piggybacking on the county of San Bernardino’s Proposal No. N-38 with Poma Distributing Company for gasoline and diesel fuel as needed.

Educational services consent items include approving six Skills USA students from Redlands East Valley High School to drive to San Diego for the Skills USA State Finals in late April, and approving 45 members of Cope Middle School’s 7th and 8th Grade Science Club to travel to Catalina Island in May.

Every Board of Education meeting features a report from Superintendent Lori Rhodes, a legislative update, and the opportunity for community members to address the Board on agenda items before or during the Board’s consideration of the item or on any matter not on the agenda that is within the subject matter’s jurisdiction of the Board at the time provided on the agenda for public comment. All speakers must submit a registration card to the Board’s clerk prior tot he start of the meeting. This isn’t a debating period, and speaking time is limited to five minutes.
