RUSD Board of Education meets Tuesday

In one of the last meetings of the school year, several district issues will be addressed

Enrollment, Day of the Teacher and new roofing will be discussed during the next meeting of the Redlands Unified School District Board of Education at 7 p.m. Tuesday. 

Jon Best, director of student services, will give an enrollment center update, and student Taylor Freedman will share what is going on at Redlands East Valley High School.

On the business services consent item agenda, the Board of Education will vote on the roofing of Crafton Elementary School by Rite-Way Roof Corporation for $42,759, to be funded by local construction funds. Also on the agenda is the approval of a consulting agreement with Riley’s Apple Farm in Oak Glen to provide event activities at Cope Middle School in the amount of $8,860; the approval of the adult/dislocated worker contract between the city of San Bernardino Employment and Training Agency One-Stop Career Center and the Redlands Adult School to provide training to their clients; and the approval of the revised Citizens’ Oversight Committee Bylaws for Measure J.

On the business services action items agenda, the Board of Education may adopt Resolution No. 33, 2010-11, which gives the district the opportunity to participate in the Cash Reserve Program, which is sponsored by the California School Boards Association Finance Corporation. They also may adopt Resolution No. 35, 2010-2011, which authorizes the temporary transfer of funds from various district funds for the fiscal year 2011-2012.

One of the educational services action items is the adoption of Resolution No. 34, 2010-2011, which supports the designation of May 11, 2011 at the Day of the Teacher, which makes a statement that the district acknowledges and thanks teachers for their service.

The public is allowed to address the Board of Education during meetings, but must fill out a registration card and present it to the clerk before the start of the meeting. Speakers are limited to 5 minutes each.
