TERRIERS PRIDE: RHS Grads and Families Revel in Achievement, Ready for Future

Update 9:48 p.m. From Stevan Abdalmalik to Natalie Zuk, the Redlands High School Class of 2013 and their families had more than 600 unique reasons to revel in their graduation night.

Abdalmalik and Zuk were both recognized as members of the National Forensic League. Zuk was also named a Life Member of the California Scholarship Federation. Abdalmalik was a Golden State Merit Diploma Finalist.

Kathy Cappelli, another member of the National Forensic League, followed Principal Christina Rivera's opening remarks with a rousing address she called "Nowhere Left to Go but Forward."

Historic Redlands Bowl was packed and it was standing room only along the outer edges of the audience.

Hundreds of Redlands High School seniors and their families were ready for their Class of 2013's graduation ceremonies Thursday evening at historic Redlands Bowl.

Danyel Flores Perez, 17, came with his mother Alma Flores Perez of Loma Linda, and his aunt Maria Flores of Baldwin Hills.

"He was three years in the Heart Academy Program," Alma said proudly. The program introduces high school students to potential careers in medical professions, Danyel said.

"I plan to be an LVN, a licensed vocational nurse, or pharmaceutical technician," Danyel said.

"That's his ultimate goal, to become a registered nurse or a pharmacist," Danyel's mother said.
