Veterans Diploma Project to Award San Bernardino Vets, Internees With Degrees

The deadline is approaching for the fifth annual County Operation Recognition Veterans Diploma Project.

Local men and women whose high school education was interrupted because of military service or internment in a Japanese American camp are encouraged to apply for a special program which will help them get their diploma all these years later. 

The fifth annual County Operation Recognition Veterans Diploma Project will provide veterans and internees a high school diploma if they qualify, according to information provided by the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools.

The free program is open to San Bernardino County residents who are also:

  • Veterans who served in and received an honorable discharge from World War II, the Korean War or the Vietnam War
  • Individuals who were interned in a Japanese American relocation camp
Those who qualify per state education code will be awarded their diplomas at a presentation in November.

The organization's website also indicates degrees can be awarded posthumously, via surviving family members.
