Citrus Valley Drops Arrowhead Christian

The Blackhawks earned their first-ever playoff victory in boys soccer with the wild card round victory over the Eagles. The rest of the CIF-Southern Section playoffs begin this week.

Citrus Valley High School scored the game's final three goals to knock off Arrowhead Christian Academy 4-1 in a wild card game in the CIF-Southern Section Division 6 playoffs.

It was the first playoff victory in boys soccer for the Blackhawks, who advance to Thursday's first round game against Rosamond, the High Desert League champion.

Citrus Valley's girls soccer team is seeded fourth in the Division 7 bracket, and will play a wild card winner at 3 p.m. Friday's in the first round.

In other upcoming CIF-Southern Section playoff games, fourth-seeded Redlands East Valley will host La Sierra in girls water polo at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Citrus Valley's girls water polo team also earned a first round home game, and will play Orange at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

Arrowhead Christian's girls soccer team will be at home at 3 p.m. Wednesday, hosting San Bernardino. Redlands High's girls team avoided a long trip for its first round game, as they will play Valencia of Valencia at 3 p.m. Friday. Redlands East Valley, however, has to travel to Anaheim to take on Esperanza at 3 p.m. Friday.

Redlands East Valley's boys soccer team earned a first round home game at 3 p.m. Thursday against Oxnard. And The Grove School's boys team, seeded third in Division 7, will host Kilpatick at 4 p.m.

Boys basketball playoff games will begin Wednesday night, with Citrus Valley playing host to Garden Grove Santiago at 7 p.m. in Division 3AAA. In Division 4A, Loma Linda Academy will travel to Montebello to take on Cantwell Sacred Heart at 7 p.m. Arrowhead Christian has a shorter distance to travel, taking on Bloomington Christian in Division 5AA at 7 p.m. Redlands East Valley will open the Division 2AA at 7 p.m. Friday against fourth-seeded Anaheim Canyon.

Girls basketball games will begin Thursday in the lower divisions. In 4A, Loma Linda Academy will travel to Santa Monica to take on sixth-seeded St. Monica at 7 p.m. Arrowhead Christian also drew a high-seeded team, as they will head to Burbank to take on Providence at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, Packinghouse Christian will be home to Trona at 7 p.m.

In Division 2AA, both Redlands and Redlands East Valley drew road games Saturday. The Terriers will be traveling to Canyon Country Canyon for a 7 p.m. tipoff, while the Wildcats will make the shorter trip to Chino Hills for a 7 p.m. game.
