Redlands, Redlands East Valley Gearing Up for Civil War

Tell us about your memories in this ever-growing rivalry, and vote in our poll as to who you think will win Friday's showdown at Dodge Stadium.

Battle lines have been drawn and the trash talking has already started across Redlands.

It must be Civil War week.

Redlands East Valley and Redlands high schools are gearing up for their annual game for the Smudge Pot, and as usual, there is a lot on the line for both teams.

For the Wildcats, who have risen in state and national polls in recent weeks -- especially after defeating Mission Viejo in Week 5 -- defeating their cross-town rival not only will keep their perfect season alive, but they'll need it if they want to be considered for a state bowl game later on this year.

The Terriers, on the other hand, are looking to bounce back after a disasterous start, that saw them lose four out of their five nonleague games. Last week's Citrus Belt League win over Fontana was nice, but a win over REV would put Redlands in charge of its own destiny for a playoff spot from the CBL.
