Boy, 12, Accidentally Shoots Girl, 11, with Handgun Near Angelus Oaks

The shooting was reported at 10:59 a.m. Sunday in the 6000 block of Mountain Home Creek Road in the mountains northeast of Redlands.

A 12-year-old boy accidentally shot an 11-year-old girl with a handgun Sunday at a home near Angelus Oaks in the mountains northeast of Redlands, according to the Sheriff's Department.

The shooting was reported at 10:59 a.m. Sunday in the 6000 block of Mountain Home Creek Road, sheriff's spokeswoman Cynthia Bachman said.

"The female was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center where she was treated for the wound and was in good condition," Bachman said.

Deputies from the Yucaipa Station were investigating circumstances surrounding the accident and storage of the firearm, Bachman said.

Mountain Home Village Road runs between Mountain Home Village and Angelus Oaks, below Highway 38.
