Flooding Reported on Valley of the Falls

Flash flooding, debris and boulders were reported Friday on the Forest Falls road east of Redlands and Loma Linda, according to Caltrans and the National Weather Service.

Heavy rains Friday afternoon in Mill Creek Canyon unleashed boulders, mud and debris that flooded parts of Valley of the Falls Drive in Forest Falls east of Redlands and Loma Linda, according to residents, Caltrans and the National Weather Service.

As of 3:30 p.m. Aug. 17, the road was open to Elkhorn General Store, an employee at the Forest Falls business said in a phone interview.

Further up the road, the dip by the community center, between Snow Creek and Rattlesnake Creek, could be blocked, she said.

Caltrans also reported flooding on Valley of the Falls Drive.

Around 2:15 p.m., a weather spotter in Forest Falls reported flooding of Mill Creek with boulders and debris flowing across Valley of the Falls Drive, the Weather Service reported.

Elkhorn General Store is about 20 miles east of downtown Redlands off Highway 38.

A flash flood watch remained in effect through Friday evening for an area including Redlands and Loma Linda.
