Heavy Rain, Lightning, Rockfall on State Route 38 East of Angelus Oaks: Caltrans

An advisory issued just after 2:20 p.m. Thursday Aug. 9 noted there was a report of a fire near the 38 and the Glass Road turnoff to Seven Oaks.

Caltrans warned motorists in the mountains northeast of Redlands to exercise caution as heavy rain, lightning and rockfall were reported Thursday afternoon east of Angelus Oaks.

An advisory issued just after 2:20 p.m. Thursday Aug. 9 noted there was a report of a fire near the 38 and the Glass Road turnoff to Seven Oaks.

One lane of the 38 was reported closed near Glass Road due the reported fire, Caltrans spokesoman Terri Kasinga said in a statement.

"Heavy rain and lightning is also being experienced on mountain routes and rockfall has begun," Kasinga said. "Motorists are advised to travel with caution or wait until the storm subsides. Be aware of Caltrans crews and emergency vehicles in the roadway."
