The event is scheduled 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday July 29 at Drayson Aquatics Center, 25040 Stewart St. in Loma Linda.

Members of Loma Linda University Medical Center PossAbilities and their families are invited to a "Kids Pool Party" on Sunday July 29 at Drayson Aquatics Center.

The event is scheduled 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday July 29 at 25040 Stewart St. in Loma Linda, a university spokesman announced Thursday.

Lunch will be provided to those who call (909) 558-6384 to make reservations by Monday July 16, Herbert Atienza of Loma Linda University said in a statement.

"With the hot summer upon us, our Kids Pool Party gives our children with disabilities and their families an opportunity to meet other families while cooling off in the pool," PossAbilities Manager Pedro Payne said. "It’s a fun activity for the whole family."

The event is sponsored by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, who donated $300,000 this year to Loma Linda University Medical Center PossAbilities, Atienza said. The money has enabled programs that help more than 3,900 PossAbilities members in Redlands, Loma Linda and throughout the inland region.

Atienza said San Manuel Indians donations have allowed PossAbilities to sponsor

- The Tour de Palm Springs, where physically-challenged and able-bodied riders took part in a 10-mile ride through downtown Palm Springs.

- The Redlands Bicycle Classic, where over 40 paracyclists competed.

- The 10th annual PossAbilities Triathlon in Loma Linda, where over 900 participants competed in a challenging bike, run and swim course.

"Support from the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians also allowed programming of a number of adaptive sports programs; social and recreational opportunities; as well as grants, scholarships, support groups and peer visitation for disabled children and adults," Atienza said.

The Kids Pool Party is free to members of Loma Linda University Medical Center PossAbilities and their families. It is also free to sign up for membership to PossAbilities.

Loma Linda University Medical Center PossAbilities is a community outreach program developed by Loma Linda University Medical Center East Campus, Atienza said.

"The free program's goal is to offer disabled people who were born with or have permanent physical injury a sense of community, as well as offer activities and practical direction to help them lead an active, fulfilling life," Atienza said.
