Loma Linda Woman Fatally Injured in Off-Road Desert Motorcycle Crash

The crash was reported Thursday evening near State Route 247 and Joshua Tree Road, north of Yucca Valley, according to the coroner.

A Loma Linda woman was fatally injured in an off-road motorcycle crash Thursday in the Johnson Valley area north of Yucca Valley, the San Bernardino County coroner reported.

At 6:11 p.m. July 19, California Highway Patrol officers and San Bernardino County Fire Department personnel were sent to the area of State Route 247 and Joshua Tree Road, according to the coroner.

They found that Kathy Jo Lindley, a 42-year-old resident of Loma Linda, had been riding an off-road motorcycle east on Joshua Tree Road, when she lost control, veered off the road and struck a utility pole, the coroner reported. She was declared dead at the scene at 6:34 p.m. due to injuries.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating the crash. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death.

State Route 247, also known as Old Woman Springs Road, connects the desert communities of Yucca Valleynear Joshua Tree National Park, and Lucerne Valley, north of Big Bear.
