Redlands + County Partner with Foamy Car Wash to Reduce Water Pollution

'Wash water from residential car washing contains pollutants such as oil, grease and detergents that are harmful to the environment,' city and county officials said.

Storm water officials with San Bernardino County and the City of Redlands are partnering with a Redlands carwash in an effort they hope will reduce water pollution.

"Wash water from residential car washing contains pollutants such as oil, grease and detergents that are harmful to the environment," city officials said in an announcement Thursday. "Washing your car at a professional car wash is the best way to keep those pollutants out of our rivers, lakes, and ocean."

Professional car wash facilities will send wash water to a wastewater treatment plant preventing it from entering the storm drain system, according to county stormwater officials.
