Triathletes Prove Anything Possible

Hundreds participated in the tenth annual race, which is a fundraiser for Loma Linda University Medical Center's PossAbilities program.

Athletes of all shapes, sizes and abilities took to the streets of Loms Linda on Sunday morning to prove that anything is possible.

They ran, rode, wheeled and swam as part of the tenth annual PossAbilities triathlon, a fundraiser for the Loma Linda University Medical Center's PossAbilities program.

Athletes in the event had two options to participate: a 5K run, or the triathlon, which included a 5K run, 11-mile bike ride and 150-yard swim. The event started and finished at the Drayson Center, and took particpants up and down Anderson Street and Barton Road.

Along with the money raised from participants, the PossAbilities program was given a donation of $300,000 from the San Manuel Tribe of Mission Indians. Outgoing tribal chairman James Ramos called the donation the first installment of a three-year commitment the tribe was making to PossAbilities.

The PossAbilities program is based in the Loma Linda University Medical Center's East Campus. It's goal is to help physically and mentally challenged people stay active and participate in athletic activities.
