Thousands of walkers from across the region strolled around Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga Sunday morning to participate in the annual Ronald McDonald House Walk for Kids.
The participants sampled free food from vendors before and after the 5K walk. The Victoria Gardens walk was one of four being held simultaneously around Southern California, with other walks taking place at Exposition Park in Los Angeles, Shoreline Park in Long Beach and Honda Center in Anaheim. A fifth Walk for Kids will take place June 2 at the California Living Museum in Bakersfield.
Team Ryan Hucko, named for a teen who received care at Loma Linda University Children's Hospital last fall, was the host family for this year's event. Their team raised more than $11,000 for the event. Overall, $181,093 had been raised as part of the Loma Linda effort as of Sunday evening.
