PHOTOS: Delays on EB 60 as Workers Tear Down Old Nason Street Bridge

There were delays on the eastbound 60 Freeway in Moreno Valley early Saturday while workers used metal-cutting acetylene torches and heavy machinery armed with jackhammers to tear down the old Nason Street overpass.

The eastbound 60 at Nason was expected to be closed until  6 a.m. Saturday June 1, and the westbound 60 was to remain open, according to city officials.

A detour was in place to get motorists and big rig drivers off the freeway and around the work site, and eastbound traffic was backed up to Perris Boulevard by 1 a.m.

A reverse of the closure is planned Saturday night through Sunday morning.

The westbound 60 will be closed at Nason from 11 p.m. Saturday June 1 to 7 a.m. Sunday June 2, and the eastbound 60 will remain open, according to city officials.
